Għar Dalam

Għar Dalam is Malta’s oldest prehistoric site. The cave’s deposits include the fossil remains of animals that reached Malta during the Ice Age, when lower sea levels connected the islands to Sicily. The site also produced evidence of the earliest human presence in Malta. Its stratigraphy records successive environmental and cultural changes, while the museum preserves an important collection of fossils recovered from the cave.
